10 Hiram Tope, was married to Eliza
Brackin, daughter of Cornelius
Brackin and sister of Dr. Jasper
Tope's wife. They lived at the Mills for a
number of years, but toward the last
of his days he sold out and bought a farm
of 160 acres about two miles north
east of Algonquin, where he resided till his
death, which occured about June 1,
1894. The youngest son of the founder of
Tope's Mills, he was the last one of
the family, and of the name for that_matter who attended the mill there. His
wife died on the 24th of Oct., 1894, of
lung trouble. Interment at Mt.
Pleasant. Their children are as follows:
Mary Elizabeth, married to Lewis
Lotz, near New Harnsburg, 0. They have
some children, but the names we do
not know.
George, died when a small boy-Aug.
25, 1860, aged 2 years 5 months and
25 days.
Cornelius, married to Annie Nivens,
and live on part of the old home place,
near Algonquin. They have five
children, names not known.
Rebecca, was married to Marion
Smeltz, and they have had three children:
Nannie, Wain and Howard. Moved to
Colorado a few years ago; came back;
and Mr. Smeltz died near New
Hagerstown, 0.
Maggie was married to Steward Hess,
and lived near Algonquin, Ohio.
They had two children: Harry and
Florence, aged seven and five respectively.
She died of consumption July 20,
1896, and the remains were interred at Mt.
Pleasant cemetery.
Samuel, who married in Colorado.
They moved back to this country, and
live now on part of the old place
near Algonquin, 0.
And one girl, Chastina, who died in
infancy, Aug. 7, 1856,-aged 4 months
and 21 days.
