Levi, died of
inflammatory
rheumatism when about 18 years of age
Rachel, was married to John Knight,
son of James Knight; they lived several
years near Leesville, 0.. had three
children, Alice, Grant and a daughter then
went to Indiana, thence to Iowa;
Mrs. Knight died and he married again- do
not know his address.
Samuel, is some place in Missouri,
we learn; is unmarried.
4. Malinda Tope. born Dec. 29, 1813,
was married Dec. 26, 1839 to James
Calvin Cooper, born June 15, 1815.
They were married at Tope's Mills in Carroll county, 0., moved to
Washington
county in 1841, removed to Franklin
county, Kan., in 1869, bought a
prairie farm and improved it, and moved to
Ottawa, the county seat in August
1878, where he died of erysipelas Dec 25,
1890, and his wife of lung fever
Dec. 26, 1890, their deaths being only twenty-three hours apart. Their
funeral
sermon was preached on the 27th the 51st anniversary of their wedding,
and they
were buried in one grave at Baldwin
Douglass county, Kan. Malinda lost
all trace of her people after moving west
until just a few years before her
death. This couple had seven children, one boy
and six girls, all of whom died in
Ohio, except three girls:
Hiram James, born March 8, 1841,
died in 1858-aged 17 years
Catharine, born
April 23,1843;
married to John P. Stephens a Baptist
minister, Sept. 1, 1864, now of
Wellsville, Franklin county, Kansas, P. 0. box
216; they had seven children: Sarah
Malinda (born July 14, 1865), married to
Wm. M. Lidikay, Feb. 17, 1886, and have had three children, the two
oldest a
boy and girl, dead, and John Casto,
the baby, born April 9, 1893; living at
Wellsville, Kan. Spurgeon Beecher,
born on Feb. 13, 1867. Calvin Stacy born
June 7, 1869. Rosa May, born May 16,
1871. Marv Elizabeth, born April 17
1873 and died Feb. 27, 1874. Qctavio
Catharine, born Jan. 6, 1875. Grace Orpha, born Jan. 15, 1877. The most
of
them are farmers.
Elizabeth, born Jan. 30, 1845,
deceased March 1, 1862.
Lucinda, born Feb. 21, 1847, and
died in 1863.
Maria, born March 18, 1849; married
to L. W. Saville Nov. 10, 1881; died
Oct. 12, 1885, leaving one daughter,
Bessie Myrtle, who lives now with J. P.
Stephens' family.
Arie C., born Oct. 24, 1851; married
to W. N. Gibson, of Colorado Springs
Col., 14 W. Rio Grand street, March
9, 1871.
Malinda Jane, born June 10, 1854 and
died March 5, 1862.
5. William Tope was a farmer; he
married Nancy Shannon and they lived
several years in an old house where
William Capper lives at present close to
Palermo, Carroll county, 0. He was
considered a champion squirrel hunter of
Carroll county. His wife died of
cancer, and we believe he married again. He
went to Minnesota, then Noragon
county, Kansas, where he was eaten out by
grasshoppers, then he moved to
Oregon, and where he was at last account, but
his address is not known. There is
one of his daughters living at Brooklyn
Iowa, married to a man by the name
of Harrison (Christian name not known), but she does not know her
father's
address. He was blind of an eye, having had
it put out by a bow and arrow. We
have no account of any of his children.
6. Levi Tope was a school teacher
and a farmer. He was married to Sarah
Davis sister of George and William
Davis, of Carroll county. Ohio. They
went to Putnam county, and it is thought that they died there. lt is
Known
that they had
two children. Hiram and Martha, before moving to Putnam, but here their
hlstory
drops out. Some of our friends told us they
thought they
were living at or near Lima, 0., but we wrote to an acquaintance
