Jacob married
Anna J. Maple Aug. 21, 1886; names of children: Inez born Aug. 4, 1887,
Jessie, born Dec. 21,
1889, Perry, born June 24, 1892, and a baby born in 1896. He keeps a
racket store at Quaker City, 0.
(b) Jacob early devoted himself to
study and farm life, and, so on becoming of age, married Ann Jane
Parker. He
lived on a farm in Monroe township, Carroll county, 0., where
he died
of typhoid fever Jan. 18, 1863—aged
35 years, 5 months and 12 days.
Interred at St. Luke cemetery. His widow married James Marshall and had
two
sons, George and James: Mr. Marshall died, and the widow married again
to
Samuel Goff, Kilgore, 0. Mr. Tope's children are:
Wm.S., who married Dane Campbell:
to which union there were born Oliver, Jackson and Anna, all
unmarried; he served as Township Treasurer
for a number of years: is a farmer,
near New Harrisburg, 0.
Robt. J., who married a Miss Gould;
he is in the livery business at Scio,
O.
Joseph V., who married a Miss
Sweasy; they have four children. Daisy
Blanche and two boys: he is a
carpenter at Dell Roy, 0.
(c) Sarah was married to William
Davis, or more commonly called Big
Bill Davis, a name given, not because
he was so big, but to distinguish him from another "Bill" Davis not so
big as
he was. He was a farmer by occupation and always lived in Union
township,
Carroll county, 0., till his death. May
28, 1894. The following are the names
of their children:
Mary Ann, who married John
McKnight, a farmer of near Algonquin, and they have no children.
Stephen, at home on the farm,
single.
Beldon, married to Josephine
Thorley, have no children, and live on a farm close to Dell Roy, 0.
David, married to Cory Sells, have
no children; address is Algonquin, O.
Thomas, who married Florence
Shotwell; he keeps a store and post-office at Tabor, 0.
Martha, who married Thomas J.
McGhee, of Dell Roy, 0.; he is a section hand on the C. C. & S.
railroad; they have a small child.
John, who is unmarried and at home.
One that died in infancy.
(d) Louisa remained at home with
her parents without marrying. She died
of cancer and dropsy June 19,
1871—aged 40 years, 5 months and 12 days. Interred at Mt.
Pleasant.
(e) Jackson, who was born Dec. 5,
1832. He has always been a farmer, handy with tools and has made
millions
of shingles. He married Catharine Pillers, daughter of Daniel and Nancy
Fillers. Their children are as follows:
Melancthon (the writer), born Jan.
28, 1857; he taught school a number
of years; is a practical phrenologist;
and owner and publisher of
the BOWERSTON PATRIOT. He was married
to Permelia Gamble, and they have three children, Jackson Glen,
Daisy Dell and Glisson Gail.
Albert Stephen, born July 31, 1858;
married Annie Simpson, and they they had one daughter, Clara Pearl; his
wife
died, and he was married again to Jentha
Lucas,
from which marriage there are two daughters, Maggie and Bessie.
He is a carpenter and farmer at Sherrodsville, O.
