    2. Susan Tope was married to Thomas Patterson, of Irish descent, of Jefferson county, 0. They lived for a while about a mile from Richmond, same county. Then moved to where Thomas Brooks now lives in Carroll county, next to where John Sells lives, near Algonquin, same county, and then to Tuscarawas county, near Roxford, and bought a piece of land there, on which he lived until his death. It is thought that his wife died there also. They had a number of children: George, Thomas, William, John, Jacob, Stephen Charles, Kate and Betsy. Thomas, Jr., had a crippled hand and traveled over the country quite a good deal. He was a great fellow to chop wood, which he would do with the one hand. He was almost notorious as a mush eater. The writer has seen him several times; and, indeed, who does not remember of seeing "Jim" Patterson? He finally died in the Carroll countv infirmary. We are not informed as to the others.
