These
were two brothers. They came
upon the "stage of action," played their parts, and passed to their
rewards. To them must be accredited
their share of history. Their lives form the dividing ridge, the
"height of land," as it were, of the account of the Topes in America.
hence, we have selected them to start with. Some of this history
runs back of them; but a great deal more follows them, especially
since, as the fellow said about the fleas, the were both "married and
had large families," as we have just seen. Their children have
grown up, scattered all over the country, married and had other
children, and this has been repeated until nearly every nook and corner
must have some of this set of people. At least, the
relationship must extend into the thousands.
